Frequently asked questions

Do you train men?

This is one of our most frequently asked questions! Our clients, in love with their results, can’t wait to sign up their husbands, boyfriends and sons.

The answer is yes, we can train men. That said, our focus is on preserving a supportive and private training atmosphere for our female clientele. We’re sensitive to the fact that many of our clients are looking for a women-only environment. For that reason, our male clients are restricted with regards to available training times. We make use of our private group room and private Reformer Pilates studio to accommodate our male clients.

We also offer a limited number of co-ed group exercise and Reformer Pilates classes on our schedule.

Do I need a membership to join?

Redefining Eve is a private training studio, not a gym. We don’t have memberships and there are no registration fees. All of our services are designed to be purchased à la carte.

Can I just sign up for one class or do I need to register for the full set?

We’re usually asked this question by our clients that work shiftwork. Ordinarily we run our classes in 10 week blocks (sometimes we run a shorter block of classes, depending on how the calendar falls). We ask clients to register for the full 10-week set of a specific class and allow early cancellation and make up classes as per our class policies.

We recognize that some commitments make it impossible to make the same class each week. If this is you – please don’t hesitate to contact us to see if we can make our classes work for you.

Are you just looking to try a single class? Let us know what class you are interested in and we’ll try to find an opening for you to try a single workout before you register for a full set.

How many sessions should I start out with?

Of course the answer to this question depends on you, your needs, and your confidence exercising on your own. We love to see a minimum 10-week commitment from our clients. Ten weeks gives us time to show you the kind of progress that will keep you motivated to continue your workouts!

As for training frequency, we recommend that our clients fit in 2-3 strengthening workouts each week for best results. If you are new to exercise, that might mean that in the beginning you are working with a trainer for each and every workout. If you are already in the habit of working out on your own, you might be looking at working once a week with a trainer, completing 2 additional workouts on your own. Depending on how many sessions you complete at the studio each week, 10, 20 or 30 sessions could be the right place for you to start.

How do I get started?

If you’ve never trained with us before, we suggest setting up a time to come in for a complimentary consultation. The consultation will give you a chance to meet some of us, view the studio and ensure that we can accommodate your schedule.

Once you have made the decision to pursue personal training at Redefining Eve, you’ll decide on the training package that is the right fit for you. Next we’ll schedule your appointments. Clients with standing times can book all their sessions in to set appointment times right away and clients in need of floating times can book their sessions for the following two weeks.

The first session of your training package will be used towards a fitness assessment. The assessment will ensure that your trainer is able to train you using a customized approach right from the very first session. The following visit you’ll start to work with your personal trainer and be on your way to a happier and healthier you!

Can you train me if I have never exercised before?

So many of our clients could not remember the last time they exercised before coming to work with one of our training team. Our trainers are well versed in working with clients new to fitness and can effectively accommodate musculoskeletal injuries. Not only can we train you if you have never exercised before, we would love to show you just how fit you can become!

Do I have to pay for my whole training package at once?

We offer Personal Training in bundles of sessions. Payments on any package can be made in one lump sum or broken down into payments.

If I can’t afford personal training, what are my other options?

The benefits of one-on-one personal training are so great that some women are determined to find a way to make the personal training sessions work even if it is just for a short time. If a few sessions is what you can manage, we will work hard to maximize your one-on-one training time.

Another option would be to register for one of our great Reformer Pilates or Group Exercise classes. All of our programs are capped at 8 participants so you will still receive some individualized attention at a lower per session cost.

Don’t rule out the one-on-one sessions until you contact us to discuss rates! You might be surprised to find that our rates are in line with personal training rates charged by membership-driven gyms. It may also be a good idea to see if your health spending account will cover some of the cost.
